Hello wonderful change-makers!
We are thrilled to announce the recipient of the first ever FJL Direct Service Internship Scholarship, Kelsey Hancock!
Kelsey will be engaging with a predominantly Latino community in Lawrence, MA through Groundwork Lawrence's Fresh Food Access program. Groundwork Lawrence has been making change happen since 1999. Through its environmental and open space improvements, healthy food access programs, youth education, employment initiatives, community programming and events, GWL creates the building blocks of a healthy community, and empowers residents to improve their quality of life.
Kelsey's primary responsibilities will include assisting staff with youth summer programming, developing curriculum for nutrition and service learning programs, running the farmer's market and CSA programs, and performing GIS mapping and regional planning techniques for the Urban Forestry and Urban Waters program. We are so excited for the change Kelsey will make!
Thank you all again for making an impact not on this student, but on the greater Friedman and national community.
Please stay tuned for more updates on Kelsey's work!
