This crowdfunding project has ended, but you can still support The Society of Women Engineers here. Thank you for your continued support!
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a national organization for collegiate and graduate women in engineering. SWE seeks to empower and inspire female engineers from all over the world. The Tufts chapter of SWE has over 100 collegiate members from all four years.
In 2015, just 19.9% of bachelors degrees in engineering were awarded to women (1). SWE seeks to inspire future female engineers as well as empower female engineers to achieve their full potential and demonstrate the value of diversity in engineering. A diverse set of thinkers with technical backgrounds are needed to solve worldwide problems in sectors such as energy, the environment and health.
We hope to prepare the next generation of female engineers by sending 16 members to the national SWE conference in Austin, TX from October 25th to 27th. The national conference is the world’s largest conference and career fair for women in engineering. It's a great opportunity to bring innovative ideas back to Tufts and share successful Tufts projects, as well as a chance to network with hundreds of different companies. Tufts SWE members will have the chance to learn from inspiring talks such as "The Leader Within You" and "Leadership Learned by Leaning Out" to empower them to their full potentials as leaders in their respective fields. Along with lectures, SWE members will have the opportunity to make professional connections with successful female engineers. Last year, Tufts SWE members were able to use networking opportunities at the national conference to find jobs and internships and we hope to do the same this year with your help!
We feel that every Tufts SWE member should have an equal opportunity to attend this conference, regardless of economic background. Thank you for any contribution you can make to help us travel to the conference and empower the next generation of women engineers at Tufts!
