We did it!

July 02, 2019

A giant Jumbo thank you for your donation which, alongside more than 300 others, funded a $26,058 scholarship for a first generation college student at Tufts next year.  Our collective effort includes more than $8,000 in matching funds from the Alumni Council, who has spearheaded this effort for the past three years. We look forward to reporting back on the experiences and opportunities you have made possible through your giving.

We truly cannot thank you enough for your support of this important project. On behalf of the Tufts University Alumni Association, please accept our heartfelt gratitude.

We need your help

June 29, 2019

Thank you for your incredible support of the First Gen Scholarship!  We’re just a day away from the finish and need 34 more donors to unlock the full $8,000 match from the alumni council. You’ve already done your part; would you be willing to help one more time?

Please share this project with one friend and ask them to join you in giving.  You can email, text,  or use any of the social share buttons on the main page: https://crowdfund.tufts.edu/project/15854 Thank you for helping to get to the goal!

This is what it's all about!!

June 26, 2019

Amy Cococcia ‘J93 is so motivated by the impact of the first gen scholarship project that she’s making an additional gift to inspire the community. Amy is giving $5,000 directly to the FIRST Resource Center to support students impacted by its work. AMAZING!!!

With this gift, she's reminding us of our challenge, to get to 300 donors by June 30. I know we can do it! If you gave already, please share with your networks; if you haven't, no day but today! Your support on this campaign so far has raised +$15,000 directly for a first generation student, and inspired additional leadership gifts like Amy's to the FIRST Resource Center. THANK YOU THANK YOU....now let's keep getting out the word so we can hit our 300 donor goal!

Thank you! Halfway there!

June 20, 2019

The support for the TUAA First Gen Scholarship from the Tufts community is incredible.  We are officially past 150 donors and halfway to our goal with 10 days left in the project.  Most importantly, we’re providing needed support for deserving students!  We’ve also seen alumni sharing their stories on social media about being a first gen student – keep them coming!

If you’d like to help reach out to your classmates and be an ambassador for the project sign up here: https://crowdfund.tufts.edu/project/15854/ambassadors  It takes 30 seconds and you’ll be able to track your success!

Thank you!

We passed the first milestone!

June 13, 2019

Earlier today we passed our first "50 donor" milestone -- unlocking the first $1,000 donation from the Tufts Alumni Council! And we're less than 20 donors from the second $1,000 bonus. Thank you to everyone who already contributed. Now is the time to encourage your Tufts friends to make a gift of their own so we can get the full $8,000 bonus gift from the Alumni Council.

As the Boston Globe recently wrote, some first generation students have had a hard time adjusting to life at Tufts.

“You have culture shock,” said Mario Delgado, a 25-year-old physics major from Charlotte, N.C., who came to the United States from Ecuador when he was 8. “There’s kind of a difference between you and everybody else.”

This scholarship can help make things a little easier, so please help.

Remember - every gift is Jumbo!
