Tufts University Alumni Association First Gen Scholarship 2019
Thank you for being a part of the first gen scholarship! This specific project is closed, but you can support financial aid for first gen students year round. Click here to give.
We did it! Thank you!
We’re going to keep the giving going for the next few hours. For every gift made before midnight, TUAA will match it with $50 to keep the success moving along (up to 40 donors). Most importantly, we’re collectively helping to support the first gen experience at Tufts!
We need you: The Tufts University Alumni Association has an exciting opportunity to continue to make a direct impact on a student’s life. Your support will make this a success! Last year, 270 alumni gave and we awarded a scholarship this year to an accomplished first generation student. Thank you!
The goal: To inspire 300 alumni to give to this crowdfunding project by June 30.
The why: To help a first generation college student, regardless of financial circumstances. The Tufts Alumni First Gen Scholarship will allow a student to focus on all that Tufts has to offer, from internships to engineering, without the constraints of financial need.
Upping the Ante: The Tufts Alumni Council, which is the governing body of the Alumni Association, will donate an additional $1,000 to the scholarship fund for every 50 donors we secure up to $6,000. And if we can hit our goal of 300, we'll match the effort with an additional $2,000! Remember, every gift is Jumbo; your participation matters! Together, we can unlock the $8,000 challenge from the Tufts Alumni Council.
The Impact: Is palpable. In the above video, learn more about the impact that financial aid and the First Resource Center has on the First Gen community. By funding this one year scholarship again, we will deepen our impact on students and Tufts as a whole. You will receive an update on the impact of your giving to learn more about the Tufts experience you helped make possible! The scholarship is given 100% by financial need.
Why now: This is part of our overall goal to continue to make Tufts accessible and broaden the alumni base of support. We’re pushing to 13,800 alumni donors which will raise our undergraduate alumni participation rate to 22.6%! Most importantly, we want to make sure the most qualified students can attend Tufts, regardless of personal finances. Tufts fiscal year ends June 30, so time is of the essence. Imagine the difference you can make in a student’s life by contributing a gift, of any amount, today.
EVERY GIFT IS JUMBO. THANK YOU!
Why a first generation college student scholarship?
Tufts is committed to meeting the full, demonstrated need of every admitted student. We also want to be sure Tufts is accessible to the brightest students from all backgrounds. 12% of the students admitted to the class of 2023 are the first generation of their families to attend college. We want to help ensure this diverse group of applicants has the financial resources necessary to attend and thrive!
What happens if we don’t hit 300 donors?
Don’t worry, we will! But, in case we don’t hit our goal, every dollar raised will still be put towards financial aid. Your gift will still count and help a deserving student, but we need to hit 300 for the full $8,000 challenge gift.
If I already gave this year, will an additional gift to this crowdfunding project count?
Yes, it will. Our goal is to inspire alumni who have not given yet this year (July 1, 2018 – now), but all gifts made by June 30 will count. Thank you! (Can’t remember if you gave? E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org)
